irssi-dbg software package provides terminal based IRC client (debugging symbols), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install irssi-dbg
irssi-dbg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the irssi-dbg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep irssi-dbg *
You will get with irssi-dbg package name, version, architecture and description in a table
